Our January Tasting Club Box is unveiled

19 January 2016

January Tasting BoxOnce all the fun of December was out of the way we wanted something to get our monthly tasting club members excited about in January. Cue the awesome Brighton Gin! Not only is it totally delicious but it contains milk thistle, well-known for cleansing the liver, to help you detox as you re-tox. Not that we ever need an excuse to drink gin but that is the best one yet.

We know a lot of people start the year with healthy intentions so both our mixers for this box were low calorie as well as being full of flavour. Fever-Tree light tonic was the first premium mixer to include only natural fruit sugars and flavours and we love the new, smaller single serve cans. After all, when the G in your G&T is as good as Brighton Gin you'll want to drink it good 'n strong.

Big Tom Bloody Mary mix was another must have in January. It's pre-spiced to make the perfect Bloody Mary every time, although we did include a drop of Tabasco for the heat seekers - January can be chilly after all! Plus Big Tom is made from tomatoes so even mixed with a good slug of vodka it has to be healthy, right?!

We chose Glen's Vodka to go with the Big Tom as it has a strong enough flavour to stand up to the Bloody Mary treatment. Plus it's a Brit and we do love our home-grown heroes - which is why we popped in a drop of Drambuie. Sweetened with honey and flavoured with herbs, it's the perfect tipple for a toast on Burns night.

Brighton Gin

The wine this month was a very easy drinking Pinot Grigio. Dry and slightly lower in alcohol and calories, we've been drinking it for years without even realising it was the healthier option! There was no mistaking the Itsu seaweed thins for anything else though at only 24 calories per serving. Seaweed is jam packed full of vitamins and minerals and oh my goodness we can't stop nibbling it! The delicious crispy texture and seductive saltiness goes perfectly with a glass (or two) of something alcoholic.

And, for those who bravely opted for a dry January, don't worry – this box of health inspired happiness will taste just as good in February!

Cheers!
